The Alchemy of Deep Awareness

Bio-Well Scanning

A different perspective on self-awareness

Sometimes, understanding ourselves begins with learning to pay attention.

Our bodies are constantly responding to our surroundings, our activities, our emotions and our experiences. Yet much of what happens within us goes unnoticed in the middle of everyday life.

Bio-Well scanning offers a visual way to explore certain measurements captured from the fingertips and the interpretations generated by its software.

At ADA, I use Bio-Well as an optional complementary tool for curiosity, reflection and self-observation.

It does not tell us everything about who we are, nor does it provide all the answers. Instead, it offers another perspective that we can explore alongside our own experiences, observations and reflections.

The purpose is not to label or diagnose, but to become more curious about ourselves.

What is Bio-Well?

Bio-Well is a device based on a technology known as Gas Discharge Visualization (GDV), also described as electro-photonic imaging.

The device captures images of the light discharge produced around a fingertip when it is exposed to a brief electrical impulse. The software then processes these images and generates visual representations and numerical indicators.

The technology itself measures characteristics of the captured discharge. The further interpretation of these measurements as indicators of stress, energy, balance, organ systems or chakras relies on the software's analytical models and theoretical frameworks.

It is important to distinguish between what the device directly measures and what the software suggests those measurements may represent.

How is a Bio-Well scan performed?

The process is straightforward, non-invasive and generally takes only a few minutes for the scanning itself.

1. Preparation

We begin with a brief conversation about the purpose of the session and any questions you may have. I explain the process and obtain your agreement before proceeding.

For a more consistent scan, we aim to follow the manufacturer's preparation and operating guidance.

2. Fingertip scanning

You place your fingertips individually on the device's optical surface. A brief electrical impulse produces a discharge that is captured by the camera.

The process does not involve needles, blood samples or imaging inside the body.

3. Digital analysis

The software processes the captured images and generates a report containing visualisations, charts and numerical indicators.

4. Reviewing the results

We review the report together, discussing what the different sections represent, what can and cannot reasonably be concluded from them, and what you notice about your own current experience.

5. Reflection and integration

Where useful, we connect the experience with broader questions about stress, rest, daily habits, emotional awareness, work-life balance and personal wellbeing.

The scan is one part of the conversation, not the conclusion.

What information does the report provide?

Depending on the software version and modules used, a Bio-Well report may include several types of visualisation.

Energy-related indicators

The software presents measurements derived from the captured fingertip discharge and interprets them through its energy-analysis framework.

These results can be used to explore the model presented by the software, but they should not be confused with a direct measurement of a person's overall vitality, health or a scientifically established human energy field.

Stress and balance indicators

Some report sections are designed to represent stress-related patterns or balance within the software's model.

These can provide a starting point for discussion about how you have been feeling, whether you have been under pressure, and how rest, activity and everyday circumstances may be affecting your wellbeing.

They are not a validated diagnosis of psychological stress or a substitute for established clinical assessments.

Organ and system representations

Bio-Well software may map fingertip images onto representations associated with organs or body systems, using its own analytical framework.

These images are not direct images or measurements of your internal organs. They cannot establish whether an organ is healthy, impaired or diseased, and should not be used to identify medical conditions.

Chakra and energy-centre visualisations

Some reports include representations based on chakra concepts and the software's interpretation of energetic balance.

Chakras are part of traditional spiritual frameworks. These visualisations can be explored as symbolic or reflective prompts, but they should not be presented as scientifically confirmed measurements of physical chakra structures.

Comparisons between scans

Repeated scans may allow you to compare reports produced at different times.

Differences can be interesting to explore alongside changes in your routine, environment or subjective experience. However, a difference between two reports does not by itself demonstrate that your health has improved or deteriorated, or that a particular practice caused the change.

How can Bio-Well support self-awareness?

For me, the most valuable part of a Bio-Well session is not the report itself. It is the conversation that follows.

A scan may prompt us to pause and consider questions we might otherwise overlook.

  • How have I been feeling recently?
  • Have I been giving myself enough time to rest?
  • What has been occupying my thoughts?
  • Have I noticed changes in my energy, concentration or mood?
  • What aspects of my life currently feel balanced, and what feels demanding?
  • What small, realistic changes might support my wellbeing?

The answers do not come from the device. They emerge from your own experience, reflection and understanding.

Where appropriate, we may use these reflections to identify practical steps, such as improving rest routines, making space for movement, practising mindfulness, noticing behavioural patterns, setting boundaries or seeking appropriate professional support.

The intention is to turn curiosity into meaningful self-observation, without becoming preoccupied with measurements or searching for a hidden meaning in every result.

What are the potential benefits?

Bio-Well may offer a number of practical benefits within an awareness-based session:

  • A visual point of reference: a report can make the discussion more concrete and engaging.
  • An opportunity to pause: the process creates space to reflect on your current circumstances.
  • Guided exploration: results can prompt questions about habits, stress and wellbeing.
  • Tracking observations: repeated sessions may provide material for discussion over time, provided changes are interpreted cautiously.
  • Personalised conversations: the report can be considered alongside your own observations, goals and experiences.

These are potential benefits of using the scan as a reflective tool. They should not be interpreted as evidence that the device improves health outcomes or reliably detects underlying physiological problems.

You do not need to agree with the report or feel that it describes you. Your own observations and questions remain central to the session.

Is Bio-Well reliable?

This is an important question, and one I believe deserves an honest answer.

Bio-Well is based on a real physical process: a device captures and analyses a fingertip discharge under controlled electrical stimulation.

However, the ability to capture a measurable signal is different from proving that the signal reliably reveals a person's health, emotional state, organ function or energetic condition.

Research into Gas Discharge Visualization has explored possible applications in health and psychophysiology. A systematic review published in 2022 identified studies across several areas but concluded that more robust research was needed before definitive conclusions could be drawn.

Other research has raised concerns about measurement variability and the validity of interpreting these signals as meaningful information about a person's biofield.

Consequently, the evidence does not currently justify treating Bio-Well as an established medical diagnostic tool or assuming that all its software interpretations are scientifically validated.

At ADA, I therefore approach the results with curiosity rather than certainty. I do not use them to diagnose illness, identify hidden emotional causes, or determine whether someone is healthy or unwell.

How I interpret and use the results?

I believe awareness begins with observation, not assumption.

For this reason, I do not approach a Bio-Well report as a definitive explanation of your body, mind or life.

Instead, we may consider three perspectives:

1. What does the report show?

We look at the visualisations and indicators generated by the software and clarify what each section claims to represent.

2. What are you experiencing?

We explore your own observations, feelings, routines, circumstances and goals, without assuming that the report explains them.

3. What, if anything, would be useful to explore further?

We consider whether the conversation suggests practical changes, further reflection or support from another practitioner or qualified healthcare professional.

The report does not determine the answers. It simply becomes one element of a wider conversation.

If a result appears concerning, it should not be treated as evidence of illness. Equally, a reassuring-looking report cannot rule out a medical problem. Health concerns should be discussed with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

What Bio-Well cannot tell you

To avoid misunderstanding, it is important to be clear about the limitations.

Bio-Well should not be used to:

  • Diagnose, screen for or rule out medical conditions.
  • Assess the health of individual organs as a substitute for clinical tests.
  • Establish the cause of a physical or psychological symptom.
  • Prove that a particular emotion, experience or trauma is responsible for an illness.
  • Confirm the presence or absence of a scientifically established human energy field.
  • Replace medical advice, treatment or psychological support.
  • Guarantee that a particular intervention will improve your health.

The scan is optional, and you are welcome to explore ADA sessions without using it.

Integrating Bio-Well into ADA

ADA is not built around one device, method or belief system.

My approach draws upon personal exploration, reflective inquiry, coaching and a range of awareness-based practices. Bio-Well is one of several tools I may use when it seems appropriate and when the client is comfortable with it.

We may combine a scan with a conversation, mindfulness, body-awareness exercises, journalling or other reflective practices. In some circumstances, another approach may be more suitable.

Where a person's needs fall outside my role or expertise, I may recommend that they consult an appropriately qualified professional.

My intention is always to remain open-minded while recognising the limits of any particular tool.

Is a Bio-Well session right for you?

You may find a session interesting if you are curious about self-observation, enjoy visual ways of exploring information, or would like a structured opportunity to reflect on your current wellbeing.

You do not need to hold any particular spiritual or scientific beliefs to take part.

You also do not need to have a specific problem to solve.

The most important thing is to approach the experience with an open mind, realistic expectations and an understanding that the scan is exploratory rather than diagnostic.

A final thought

I do not believe a device can tell us everything we need to know about ourselves.

No report can capture the full complexity of a human being: our experiences, relationships, memories, emotions, choices and the meaning we give to our lives.

But sometimes a different perspective can help us pause, ask a question and notice something we had not considered before.

For me, that is where Bio-Wel have an special place within ADA.

Not as an answer, but as an invitation to observe, reflect and understand ourselves a little more deeply.

Different perspectives. Greater awareness. A more conscious relationship with ourselves.

Important information: Bio-Well scanning at ADA is offered as a complementary, exploratory and educational activity. It is not a medical examination, and its results are not used to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. Please continue to seek appropriate medical care for health concerns.
